Getting to know Hatta
Hatta is a Dubai exclave in the Hajar mountains, near the Omani border and about ninety minutes by road from the city centre. Public buses link it with Dubai, and in the town itself most sites are a short drive apart.
The Hatta Dam, with its turquoise reservoir, is the main attraction, alongside kayaking, the mountain-bike and hiking trails of Hatta Wadi Hub and the restored Hatta Heritage Village, a group of old stone and mud-brick houses with two defence towers. Cooler than the coast in winter, Hatta is also a popular camping area.
