Getting to know Kalba
Kalba is the southernmost town on the UAE's east coast, a Sharjah exclave just north of the Omani border. Its mangrove forest, Khor Kalba, is among the oldest in Arabia and a protected reserve, home to rare kingfishers and a stop for migrating birds.
The Kalba Bird of Prey Centre and the Al Hefaiyah Mountain Conservation Centre present the region's wildlife, and a corniche runs along the beach. The town is small and quiet, with local shops and services; Fujairah, a few minutes north, provides the larger hospitals and administrations.
