Getting to know Khor Fakkan
Khor Fakkan belongs to the emirate of Sharjah but sits on the east coast, on a bay framed by mountains. Since 2019 the Khor Fakkan road, bored through the Hajar in a series of tunnels, links it directly with Sharjah city in about an hour.
The bay holds one of the region's main container terminals alongside a long corniche and beach. Recent projects include the Khor Fakkan Amphitheatre, the waterfall on the mountainside and the Al Rafisah Dam, a lake among the peaks that draws walkers and kayakers.
